Yes, you still have to ‘want’ to quit smoking—there is no magic remedy or pill that will do it for you. But, you can make the process easier by controlling the urges to smoke. How does this work? With the use of an essential oil called Bupleurum–a relatively unknown essential oil that is distilled in Corsica.
When asked by the distillers of Corsica what this essential oil is used for, they replied, ‘nicotine withdrawal’. The distillers are not some fancy company that markets the oil for the properties–they are local people of the area who have known of the benefits of this plant for years. Bupleurum is known to satisfy the ‘liver Qi, or chi’. When you feel the urge to smoke, when your body craves the nicotine, this oil can help balance the emotional properties in this area to tamp down and control the cravings.
Why use as an aromatherapy inhaler? Breathe it in through your nostrils and it provides instant benefits. The oils are quickly absorbed through the olfactory membrane and go to work for you.
The benefit of nasal inhalers is that they are easy to use, private (no one else smells the oil) and portable–you can easily carry them in your pocket! Carry one with you, keep one in your car, at the office etc. Not only are they fast acting and effective but you also get the peace of mind of controlling your cravings without taking synthetic drugs.
The following oils are in this blend:
***Eucalyptus Radiata (Eucalyptus radiata): of the eucalyptus species, this one is fresh and crisp and a powerhouse for the respiratory. I added it to this blend as it contributes to the equalizing of emotions—a key ingredient to help keep one balanced when going through withdrawals. More importantly, this oil will help the lungs clear and heal from smoking—keeping the breath free and aid in healing the respiratory passages.
***Black Pepper (Piper nigrum): stimulating to the senses and encourages alertness. Enhances mental clarity and focus. The energizing scent of black peppercorn oil is known to support healthy circulation and some studies have suggested that the aroma aids in overcoming the habit of smoking.
***Bupleurum (Bupleurum fruticosum): steam-distilled from the yellow blossoms and leaves of wild-harvested bupleurum of Corsica. This oil produces a quiet calm to the body and mind and is suggested to use during times of stress. Known to stimulate the liver and help with immune system. Has shown to provide relief with nicotine withdrawal and support overcoming the craving for nicotine.
